Toronto Zoo day!

Zoo members were allowed to visit the zoo by booking specific times online, and we had an appointment to go on Monday afternoon. I was so excited to finally see the new baby giraffe, and she was just as beautiful in person as in her online pictures! (She is now seven feet tall at only a couple of months old.)

The zoo made it so easy to visit safely–you had to wear a mask to go inside the African pavilion, which was the only one open, and there was a zoo staff member at every entrance to open the door for you so there was no need to touch anything. By making appointments, there were fewer people at a time, so easier to stay apart from others.

I have to call out that the zoo was 100% efficient in maintaining a safe process for visitors. What a great place!

The Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma is now open. It is a nice smaller zoo on the water no less. I just don’t think I can deal with the social distancing hopscotch bubbles on the side-walk yet! 🐈

I just thought that they don’t have any kangaroos there. It’s just people hoppping!

Sounds beautiful! If you ever go, I would love to see some pictures posted. Honestly, Covid has ruined the true zoo experience. Only one building of several was open and it was hot in there wearing the mask. And you could only walk outside in one direction, so there was a lot that you couldn’t see. The Toronto zoo is a wonderful place, but this lousy virus has taken a lot of the fun out of it, as it has with so many things. Still, it was great to see the animals that I was able to see.

I saw on tv they have born a baby musk ox named Trebeck. He must be smart. There is an aquarium and gardens as well. Not too far away to visit. In the park is also a wooden frontier fort with reinactors, and a logging camp including railroad cars and train rides. Been there countless times in the past but not lately. Also been to the Vancouver B.C. Aquarium. Someday the virus will be gone and just history. I hope I love to See that day!
